This recipe is inspired by, and adapted from, carne adovada, a New Mexican red chile and pork dish. You may also want to try this Easy Pork Carnitas Taco Board ! Abby recently made this, and added additional ingredients like raisins, orange juice, tomato paste, and cinnamon sticks, for a sweeter, more complex product, reminiscent of a mole.
Directions. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil to pan; swirl to coat. Add pork to pan; cook 5 minutes. Add salt and garlic and continue cooking until pork is thoroughly cooked, about 10 to 15 minutes. 2. Add red chili sauce, tomato sauce, oregano and cumin. Let mixture come to a boil, and add water to desired consistency.
In a large Dutch oven or soup kettle, brown beef with onions until the beef is brown and the onions are tender; drain. Stir in spices and tomato sauce. Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Combine flour and vinegar; stir into chili. Simmer another 15 minutes or until thickened.
Directions brown and drain ground beef. add garlic salt and onion and cook until tender. add remaining ingredients and simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes. fry tortillas in oil for about 10 seconds each and drain on paper towel. layer casserole dish with tortillas. follow with a layer of meat mixture. repeat until dish is full.
Rinse chiles in cool water, drain briefly, then cover with hot water and soak for an hour. Process chiles in blender with enough of the soaking water to obtain a nice, blended consistency. Add remaining water, tomato sauce, garlic, oil, salt, oregano, and cumin. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
