Bienenstich is German for Bee Sting Cake. If you haven’t tried Bienenstich or Bee Sting Cake before, you need to get your shopping list ready to fill it up with all required ingredients. In fact, you just need 12 ingredients to make this Authentic German Bienenstich recipe, and the most of them are things that are always in the pantry.
Press the dough into the pan and use a fork to prick the dough several times (that will prevent the cake from puffing up too much while baking). Pour the hot almond topping onto the dough and spread evenly. Bake at 350F/176C for about 30 minutes or until the topping is a nice golden brown.
Combine flour, yeast, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt, 3/4 cup milk, and 3 tablespoons butter or margarine. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
Legend has it that Bienenstich got its name because the bees were attracted to the honey in the recipe - and stung the German baker who first made it! This rich chocolaty no-bake cake is a classic German cake recipe that was popular when Lisa was a child.
