1. Bring together all of your dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, (baking soda, corn starch, Epsom salts) excluding your citric acid. We want to leave the citric acid until later, as adding it now can complicate things during the liquid pour step, just trust me.
2. In a seperate container, you can go ahead and mix your wet ingredients as well, including any food color or soap dye you’re planning to use.
3. Working slowly so as not to disturb the baking soda too much, add your wet ingredients to the dry ingredients a bit at a time and mixing thoroughly with your hands. (Adding your dye to the Epsom salts rather than your liquids is an interesting alternative worth trying at some point. Just mix thoroughly before adding the salts to the rest of your dry ingredients).
4. As you work the bath bomb ingredients, you’re looking for a texture that is similar to that of damp, but no saturated, sand. You’ll notice that the mixture will begin to stick together at this stage, a bit like wet sand does in your sandcastle bucket.

1. In a large bowl whisk together the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salt, cornstarch and (only if using) powdered food coloring.
2. In a separate small bowl combine the melted coconut oil, water and essential oils. (We used peppermint, but I’m guessing that this would work great with lavender, sweet orange or chamomile.)
3. While continuously whisking, very slowly drizzle the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients until well combined. The outcome (as pictured below) should be similar to a dry, crumbly sand and should not be a "wet" consistency. Warning: If mixture gets too wet it will activate the fizzy part of the bath bomb too soon!
4. TIGHTLY pack the mixture into each side of the mold then press the two sides together. Ideally let it stay in the mold overnight, then lightly tap around the mold with a spoon to very carefully open and remove bath bomb. Finished product will still be somewhat fragile, so be careful!

1. Place the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix together with a whisk.
2. In the small bowl, mix the liquid ingredients together until well blended.
3. In the large bowl, slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients at little bit at a time. Mixture should hold together when squeezed without crumbling. Important Tip: Don’t mix the wet and dry ingredients too quickly. This will activate the mixture and it will begin to fizz. Also, spraying witch hazel on the mixture instead of water helps get it moist without activating it.
4. When well mixed, pack the mixture into your bath bomb mold and pack tightly, then let it dry. Make sure you work quickly so the mixture doesn’t dry out in the process. Bath Bombs need a day to several to fully harden. If they’re not quite hardened enough, they may crumble when you handle them, so check to make sure before taking them completely out of the mold. Until ready to use, store in an airtight container in a dry area.
