Protein. Protein-rich foods constitute a key component of the Atkins diet. It is important for Atkins dieters to consume about 4 to 6 ounces of protein foods at each meal, whether it is pork, fish, turkey, chicken, beef, ham, cheese or eggs.
Vegetables are an important part of the Atkins diet because they provide fibre. Most vegetables are OK to eat, as long as they aren't starchy (avoid potatoes). Specifically, you can eat spinach, artichokes, kale, red, green or yellow bell peppers, leeks, carrots, zucchini, asparagus, onions, green beans and squash.
As with all phases, a typical Atkins diet meal at this stage will include large amounts of protein, as found in meat, poultry, seafood, and cheese, with a healthy portion of vegetables and a small amount of fruit, soft cheeses, or nuts. The final two phases of this diet are generally the same.
